Los Perros del El Calafate

December 24, 2016

Travel day from Buenos Aires to El Calafate, we had a crazy early morning from Jorge Newbery Domestic Airport at 5:50ish. Slight panic the night before as the national holiday was making it very difficult to book a taxi for 4am, but it turns out Uber is up and running in Buenos Aires and we were relieved to see Diego roll up at 3:58. Thumbs up all round!

Once in El Calafate we took a walk into town to explore, the first thing we noticed was the dogs, lots of dogs. One in particular, we called him Perry, followed us the 3km down into town. They all seemed to have the run of the place, charging fearlessly at cars and following tourists around in the hope of treats.

Good weather gave us a great first impression of Patagonia, and our walks in and out of town gave me plenty of time to take pictures. Day one here was rounded off with a hot tub overlooking Lago Argentino, not bad.
